Photos of the hard-to-reach Grotto Canyon in Death Valley National Park.
Grotto Canyon is one of the most beautiful slot-canyon in Death Valley. It is very close from Stovepipe Wells and easy to access, but getting up this canyon is a real workout and it cannot be done alone and requires ropes.
A group of at least 4 people with at least 9 meters (30 feet) of climbing rope or strap can easiely pass the first 3 dry falls, and there is a 30 feet dry fall that can be bypassed by the left (East side).
Two experienced climbers may be able to negotiate this canyon, but I am not sure I could have been very far up without the help of all the other hikers that we met there. And I did have exactly the type of climbing rope we needed.
Our great team that day was Lauren, Dana, Aprin, Chhun, Sharon and I. Yay!
