Just because pigs may be treated even worse in factory farms in Western countries doesn't mean we shouldn't speak out against abuses in other countries - particularly for those of us who don't eat factory-farmed pork. All animal abuses, regardless of what culture is responsible, should be criticised and challenged.
I'm proud to say I do not eat pigs. They have been compared to dogs in intelligence. I also know dogs are considered food all over Asia. It's a cruel world. :(
Mabye you should look up what happens to pigs in a british slaughter house before you judge another culture, they may only be in these cages for a few hours and I bet they are treated a lot better than the pigs in here and in other cultures
Awww i know it's part of life but this makes me sad what if they treated humans like that!!!
haha....now that's a saussage roll!
this is soooo mean to just baby piglets..
i took this photo in vietnam (not in china). it would be very hard to transport the piglets to the market if they were not in cages. it might look cruel but this is really just an ordinary everyday thing in the country, all around the world.
they are put in cage so that they do not escape, and they are easier to transport to the market this way.
why are the pigs in bamboo thats just WERED!
Omg...these pigs are adorable! :( but i ges we can't really do nething about it. sur its sad, but its not strange. Tons of cultures do this...its life
Who could do that to them poor cute little piglets! And not just the piglets to all the animals! I hate the people who did this! I hope you get put in a bamboo cage and see how you like it! YOU MEEEEEAN PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is so mean! The poor little piglets! I hate China the way they ALWAYS do whats best for the meat and not for the animal! China is very cruel to animals! :-( From Ella xx
i do not like this!! not one bit!
actually in vietnam, they put the piglets in cages only to bring them to the market. the rest of the time, they roam free under the sun, unlike in the western world, where they usually spend their entire life in small cages in industrial pig houses.
yes, it is mean, and you should think twice before eating ham or hot-dogs, because those are made from pigs just like those.
who are you directing this question to? me, i am just a photographer.
reporting this? what do you mean? sure, you can report this to PETA. but i doubt they care, really. this is a photo of a typical market scene in a village in vietnam. do you want to prevent all the people in Asia from selling their piglets on the market? you might not like it, but selling livestock (dead or alive) in a market is legal in every country in the world. and eating roasted piglets is legal too. you might find it shocking to see little piglets in bamboo cages, but this is a very normal thing in asia, since they do not have metal cages.
im reporting this!
what kind of people are you?
That's the problem dude....too much tolerance nowadays. Everyone is expected to be so tolerant. I suppose you could say I'm intolerant to tolerance. TAKE THAT SOCIETY!!
> lock them up from birth in a little cage where they can’t even move actually in vietnam, they put the piglet in cages only to bring them to the market. the rest of the time, they roam free under the sun, unlike in the western world, where they usually spend their entire life in small cages in industrial pig houses. by the way, those piglets on the photos will (probably) not be eaten until they become big pigs. yes, i agree with you that pigs have feelings and they are very intelligent animals. maybe more intelligent than dogs. yet lots of people eat pigs and they have no problem with that, but they get very angry when other people eat dogs. this is very hypocritical.
You should be angry! You be very angry! Eating meat may have been a part of our culture but it’s not a part of our culture to treat animals so inhumanly and lock them up from birth in a little cage where they can’t even move. And it’s not a part of our culture to eat them three times a day. We used to only eat animals on special occasions. Pigs have as much feelings as humans. They can feel pain and sadness. And what we do to them is just cruel.
no, they usually make them grow fat before they kill them to make ham and pork meat.
omg r they going to kill those pigs
you cant be mad and sad about that though its part of their culture and you have to respect that.
thats soooooooooooooooo cruel to put those piglets in bamboo cages like that. i am disgusted by that!!! it makes me sad and angry
