The Ghats of Varanasi (India).

The Ghats are stone steps going from the houses down to the Ganges river, allowing people to easily bathe and access river boats.

During monsoon (rainy season), the water level of the river is several meters higher, reacing the base of the buildings that are along the Ghats.
