Security at the Mulu airport is a bit of a joke.
Past the security checkpoint and X-ray screening, there is a souvenir shop (in the secure boarding area) where anyone can buy traditional Penan machetes like this one.
Those are the real machete, with very sharp blades, that are used everyday by local Penan villagers to cut trails in the jungle.
I think this defeats the point of having security screening with an X-ray machine and a metal detector if you can buy a weapon after going through security, and take it on board!
