Row of traditional Pinisi boats (Bugis Schooners) docked at the Makassar harbor - Sulawesi Island, Indonesia.

The pinisi or phinisi is a traditional Indonesian wooden sailing ship, mostly built by the master shipbuilders of Ara, a village in South Sulawesi.

Now most of them are motorized, and they are still used widely by the Buginese and Makassarese, mostly for inter-insular transportation, cargo and fishing purposes within Indonesian archipelago.

For more information about these traditional boats, read the album description www.loupiote.com/sets/72177720306631394.shtml.
