Those manual, human-powered sewing machines (with foot pedal) are still very popular in Indonesia (and also in India).

I guess many people still don't have electricity, or they just prefer those old machines that are more reliable than newer electrical / electronic sewing machines.

And they even still sell all the spare parts for those mechanical machines.
