Check-point at Sarchu - Manali to Leh road (India)

The Himachal Pradesh Police officer writes down the passport numbers. They do that at each check-point, presumably to do statistics and to trace people's location in case of accident. It's easy to fall in a ravine and disappear on those roads. Police and Military are mostly busy with keeping the road opened and rescuing people. They do not shoot guns or fight enemies in this region.
