Man on wooden ramp to docked traditional Bugis Schooners at the Surabaya harbor (Java Island, Indonesia)
The pinisi or phinisi is a traditional Indonesian wooden sailing ship, mostly built by the master shipbuilders of Ara, a village in South Sulawesi.
Now most of them are motorized, and they are still used widely by the Buginese and Makassarese, mostly for inter-insular transportation, cargo and fishing purposes within Indonesian archipelago.
