Flatidae nymph (Borneo)

This is the strangest insect I have ever seen. Its body is covered with waxy filaments that look like cotton threads. It can jump and somehow fly, or rather glide down, in a controlled manner by organizing the white filaments in wings shape (or maybe it has wings under the white hair). Totally amazing.

Local people call it "Cotton Bug". It's about 3 cm long.

This is the "nymph" of a Fulgoroid plan-hopper insect, i.e. it turns into an insect with a completely different shape when it grows up.
