Women congregating around communal water well - Ajanta (India)
Those are the jars that they will fill-up with the water from the well. There is no running water in the village, and this well is the only source of clean water.
Because of the drought, the water well is almost dry, so a water truck (visible in this photo) comes every day and dumps water in the well.
In my opinion it would be better to provide water directly from the truck to the villagers, as part of the water dumped in the water well will infiltrate in the ground and get lost.
