Mazu Goddess of the Empty Sea, by The Department of Public Arts, New Xishi City, Taiwan
This Mazu Temple aims to be a cross pollination of traditional East Asian religious culture influences, in particular the Goddess figure of Mazu, with the wild and raucous irreverence of the Western carnival culture.
Mazu is a Buddhist and Taoist goddess of the sea, protector of travelers and one of Taiwan's most popular deities.
