Water Well - Ajanta (India)
Young girls and women are standing on slippery rocks at the edge of the 60-feet deep water-well, barefoot or wearing flip-flops. They use buckets attached to long ropes to get drinking water. There is no running water in the village, and this well is the only source of clean water.
Because of the drought, the water well is almost dry, so a water truck (visible in this photo) comes every day and dumps water in the well.
In my opinion it would be better to provide water directly from the truck to the villagers, as part of the water dumped in the water well will infiltrate in the ground and get lost.
