Photos of Salinas Grandes (Jujuy, Argentina)
This is is one of the largest salt bed (dry salt lake) in the world, located in a remote altiplano desert of northern Argentina, not far for the Salar de Uyuni (Bolivia).
I also went to nearby Uyuni but at the time, the Salar de Uyuni was completely inundated due to several days of rain, so it was difficult to visit. Local guides did not want to venture too far on the salar with their jeeps, as the salt would damage their engines, and could be dangerous in case of a break down).
Rock Salt is called Halite. For more information, read: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halite
